Intro To Breathwork
This short guided practice will give you the opportunity to practice an activated breathwork practice, and see what it feels like in your body. In a full session we are able to dive deeper- creating more spaciousness within for deeper emotions to arise, but a short session like this can be very powerful with the guidance of your intention.
Setting up the Space:
Find a quiet space where you feel comfortable to make noise, release any stuck emotion, and feel safe enough to dive into your breath without the concern of others around.
You will be laying down for the practice. It is important to note: do NOT put a pillow under your head, allow your neck to be flat on the surface below you so that your airway is open and unrestricted.
Turn down the lights, light a candle or turn on your diffuser with some yummy essential oils if that helps your space feel cozier. You’re creating your own sanctuary/cozy den- so whatever feels best for YOU is right.
Sometimes our hands have cramping or tightness, this is totally normal. It’s called tetany, and is temporary. It will subside after you move back into a normal breathing pattern. Holding a smooth stone or crystal in your hands can help with grounding, as well as to ease the tension in your fingers.
An eye pillow, scarf, or other cloth over your eyes can help to anchor in your awareness to your internal landscape.
Sometimes our bodies will get cold through this practice as well, I like to cover up with a throw blanket or have one nearby. As well as a pillow to yell into.
Relax, bring presence to the moment, and ENJOY!
